1: Seth Rogen

Through nearly two decades of American comedies, Seth Rogen was perhaps one of the pioneers of nerdy-looking men on the big screen. He started with a stand-up career in Vancouver and at the age of 17, before deciding to move to Los Angeles. movies like Neighbors at knocked up at An American pickle, Seth has proven that talent can take you far. He made his presence felt and we can’t deny he carved out a place for himself.

2: Asa Butterfield

If you’ve seen both seasons of Sex education and plan to binge-watch Season 3, you probably have an idea why Asa Butterfield aka Otis is on this list. He has been in the industry for a long time and has given many contemporaries a hard time. Asa’s acting career began when he participated in an after-school youth theater every Friday in his town at the age of 7. He landed the role of main protagonist Bruno in The boy in the striped pajamas (2008) and there was no looking back after that.

In an interview with The Guardian, he was asked if he ever thought acting would turn into a long career. He said: “In my early roles, I didn’t totally know what I was doing. You don’t think too much when you’re a kid. It was like pretend play. Only after working on Hugo that I understood the process of making a film. Martin [Scorsese] told me the history of cinema and gave me films to see on weekends. It was the ultimate education. It captured my imagination and made me think maybe I could do this as an adult.

3: Alex Lawther

Alex Lawther has been on shows like Charlie Brooker’s black mirror and movies like Departure but the actor believes it was the show The end of the fucking world which brought him the fame he was looking for. He has always been humbled by his success. In an interview with Hunger, he was asked why the show was universally loved.

He said, “I think because it’s so weird. I’m so proud of how weird it is. I think it was a huge surprise to us because we were aware of this weirdness and little did we know it would appeal to so many people in so many different ways it’s such a beautiful thing but why don’t I have any idea… I really enjoy the show so I can say that I feel very close to James and Alyssa as characters, and Bonnie too. It’s heartbreaking because when I try to figure out what all the characters are doing, they try to connect with each other and often fail miserably. I think it’s really touching and touches a lot of people and really touches me. by charlie [Covell, the show’s screenwriter] the genius is being able to take something really sensitive and make it something really engaging and funny and weird so that you don’t even realize you’re affected by these young people and you’re already on their side. From the outside you might not think you would be, I mean it’s a self-diagnosed teenage psycho and Alyssa is Alyssa, yeah that was a surprise.
