Hey, Hollywoodians! Today, we’re spotlighting this year’s high school graduates with eight Hollywood movies you must watch if you graduate this year. We’ve compiled a list of wellness movies about senior year in high school, graduation, and first year out of high school. Read on to see if your favorite is on the list!

Hollywood Movies for High School Graduates: Lady Bird (2018)

Lady Bird centers around a high school student (played by Saoirse Ronan) which is called Lady Bird. The film shows her trying to balance her new friends, relationships, and existing friendships during her senior year of high school. It also portrays the tension that can exist between a mother and her teenage daughter, especially when the daughter has a different post-graduation plan than her parents have for her.

Directed and written by Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird follows the main character from his Catholic high school in Sacramento, Calif., until his freshman year at college in New York City. The film also stars Laurie Metcalf, Timothée Chalamet, and Feldstein beanie.

10 things I hate about you takes viewers through Kat’s final year (Julia stiles) like his classmate Patrick (Health ledger) tries to get her on a date. The film shows Kat going wild for the first time since her first year and starting to let her guard down.

In 10 things I hate about you Kat slowly mends her relationship with her younger sister before going to school and brings viewers to senior events like Patrick and Kat’s prom. The romantic comedy is about leaving home after high school and how difficult it can be for parents, as Kat struggles to get her father to agree to let her attend school in New York City.

Hollywood Movies for High School Graduates: Perfect (2012)

The iconic comedy Perfect follows Beca (Anna kendrick) from his arrival at the university on the day of his move in until the end of his first year. First arrested by school, Beca makes the decision to join the a cappella group on campus, where she trains, competes and meets a real group of friends (played by Rebellious wilson, Anna camp, Brittany Snow, and others).

The film takes viewers through Beca’s attempt to balance all of the new elements and experiences college has to offer. At the end, we see that she is so happy that she took a leap of faith and tried something new.

Hollywood Movies for High School Graduates: Booksmart (2019)

Booksmart is a coming-of-age film that tests the friendship of two high school students as they prepare to graduate and move on to the next chapter in their lives. Played by Feldstein beanie and Kaitlyn Dever, the two girls are determined to let go on their last night of high school and build on the experiences they’ve missed over the past four years.

Directed by Olivia wilde, Booksmart focuses on what happens when two best friends break up for the first time after high school, and the importance of going your own way rather than one that will keep you and your friends together.

Hollywood Movies for High School Graduates: An extremely zany movie (2000)

An extremely zany movie is perfect for animated movie lovers looking to watch a college movie. The film follows Goof’s son, Max, as he enters college. Shortly after his stay there, he sees that his father has decided to join him and return to finish school. The film then takes viewers through the antics that Goofy and Max find themselves in as a father and son in college.

Hollywood Movies for High School Graduates: Fat (1978)

Fat is the quintessential high school musical. The film tells the story of a group of high school students at Rydell High throughout their senior year. The film particularly follows Sandy (Olivia newton-john), Rydell’s new daughter, and her struggle to fit in and maintain her relationship with Danny (John travolta). Just when Sandy has it all figured out, it’s time for them to graduate.

The final scene of Fat takes place at the end of the year carnival. A friend asks the question: “What if we don’t see each other again?” This then leads the group to jump into song and dance as they sing “We Go Together”, making sure each other will always be friends no matter where life takes them.

If Netflix romantic comedies are your type of movie, check out To all the boys: always and forever. The most recent To all the boys I’ve loved before slice tests Lara Jean’s relationship (Lana condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) as they start to take different directions after high school.

Lara Jean faces the difficult decision to follow her heart or play it safe and stay close to Peter. As a result, the two must determine if they can keep their relationship alive, no matter where they are geographically.

Did you really graduate from high school if you didn’t watch Lycée Musical 3: Senior Year? The finale of the iconic film franchise follows everyone’s favorite high school kids through their senior years at East High. We see Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), Sharpay (Ashley tisdale), Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), and their friends are having their final season of basketball, a school musical, a ball and graduation.

Lycée Musical 3: Senior Year focuses on each character’s struggle to decide what to do next for them after high school. Troy in particular must choose between his own dreams and the expectations set for him by the people he loves. This movie is full of heart and fun musical numbers that the franchise first introduced us to in 2006.
