All the Hollywood movies and celebrities filming in Montreal this winter

There’s something magical about Montreal, so much so that it’s become a popular place to shoot some pretty epic movies, starring even more epic celebrities. All summer long Kevin Hart has been wandering our town while filming his new movie, and this winter we’ll likely be blessed with even more A-list stars.

Expect a milder than usual winter as Michelle Pfeiffer, Aubrey Plaza, Natasha Lyonne, Shia LaBeouf and even Michael Caine will be in town to warm us up. As cold as it may be outside, we have to walk with our heads held high and our hoods down, because there’s a chance you’ll spot one of these celebrities on your morning commute!

If you’ve seen someone filming in your area, let us know and, if you spot them, be sure to respect their work and space because we want them back!

It’s no surprise that celebrities love Montreal, I mean, let’s face it, it’s a very beautiful city! From the plethora of restaurants to the vibrant nightlife and friendly people, our city, while far from perfect, is a source of great pride for its residents.

USA vs. Billie Holiday

Directed by Lee Daniels, this movie will shoot in Montreal until December 2020 and it’s packed with some pretty amazing actors.

The film follows Holiday through her career as she is targeted by the Federal Narcotics Department. The story is filled with twists and turns as the man running the sting operation is a former lover.

With Garret Hedlund of muddyNatasha Lyonne Orange is the new black and Russian dolland Trevante Rhodes from Moonlight and birdhousethis film is not one you want to miss — especially since it will be shot in Montreal.

Bestsellers is a film about a retired author who is hesitant to embark on his latest book tour, which will help a young publisher.

The film, starring the hilarious Aubrey Plaza alongside legendary Oscar winner Michael Caine as well as Underworld‘s Scott Speedman, is a comedy drama, with more comedy than drama.

They will be filming in Montreal until December 12, 2019, which gives you just under a month to take your selfie with one of these stars.

French release

The film, directed by Azazel Jacobs, tells the story of an aging Manhattan socialite living on what little remains of her inheritance. Alone, with her son and her cat, she decides to settle in a small apartment in Paris.

This comedy drama may be set fictionally in Paris, but the reality is that it’s filmed right here in Montreal. Best of all, it stars one of the greatest actresses of all time: the iconic Michelle Pfeiffer. Her on-screen son is played by the talented Lucas Hedges of Lady Bird.

That means Pfeiffer will be running the 514 by the end of November, that’s cool!

Justin Baldoni’s latest project makes him fall in love with Montreal. He and his family have been here for some time and will be in our town until the end of the month.

Baldoni is directing the film, which stars Fin Argus, Madison Iseman, Sabrina Carpenter and Neeve Campbell and chronicles the life and death of Zach Sobiech.

Pieces of woman

Although this movie hasn’t started filming yet, I still felt the need to share it with our readers! Pieces of woman is directed by Kornel Mundruczo and stars Shia Labeouf and Vanessa Kirby.

Although plot details have not been announced, we do know that they will begin filming in early November and plan to wrap it up in late January.

That means we’ll have plenty of time to spot those two A-list stars wandering our town!
