In 2019, a photo of a local Kashmiri looking suspiciously like Akshay Kumar went viral on the internet.
Majid Mir’s photo was shared online by a reporter on national television. Mir religiously wears a hat, made popular by former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar in his heyday.
However, the internet has noticed something else about Majid. He looked like Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar.
One user wrote: “I zoomed in on the image to make sure it isn’t photoshoped and someone hasn’t stuck Akshay’s face on it.” Another user commented: “Looking like old and little Akshay Kumar.”
Bollywood may have recently returned to the valley after a long gap. But the valley has had its connection to the world of cinema by giving Bollywood many local actors who have literally earned their name.
In the midst of this, many valley residents have become an internet sensation for their resemblance to actors in Bollywood and Hollywood.

Bollywood comedy king Rajpal Yadhav also has a lookalike in Kashmir. In recent years, a video of a Sangran Qazigund resident has gone viral on a social networking site. He bears a striking resemblance to comedian Rajpal Yadhav.

Tariq Mir – Hollywood star Peter Dinklage lookalike
In the winter of 2018, Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali, known for popular films “Jab We Met” and “Rockstar”, noticed Tariq Mir while attending a local film festival.
The two met and took a photo together, which Ali posted on Instagram with a caption: “With Tyrion Lannister at the Pahalgam festival.”
The photo went viral and stories appeared on entertainment websites claiming the Peter Dinklage lookalike was discovered in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mir was recently seen staring in the film “Bharat”, a drama based on the 2014 South Korean film “Ode to My Father”, with Indian superstar Salman Khan.
