Chase viewers expressed their anger after a blind contestant was asked a question based on visual knowledge, with fans calling the move “unfair” and “absurd.”

On a recent episode of the ITV quiz show, Rob was the third member of his team to face the Chaser, Paul Sinha.

Rob, who was accompanied by his four-week-old guide dog Bobby, told host Bradley Walsh he went blind at the age of 17, lost his eyesight in three days and became a Paralympic athlete .

With £ 11,000 in the pot from the previous two team members, Rob hit £ 5,000 in the cash builder’s first round before deciding to go for the high bid of £ 45,000 against Paul.

Rob explained that if he won he planned to spend the money on a computer designed for the visually impaired, with features like braille, which he said would cost around £ 5,000.

After successfully answering several questions, Paul was only one place behind Rob when Bradley asked both of them, “How many digits typically appear on a standard UK barcode?”

While Rob unfortunately went for the wrong answer, guessing nine, Paul correctly guessed he was 13.

Rob told Bradley he didn’t regret his time on The Chase, saying, “This is what I had planned to do and I just didn’t go my way. It was awesome to do. be here.

Although he and Paul shared a laugh ahead of its release, several viewers shared their fury on Twitter that a blind candidate was given a visual question.

“Unfair question to ask a blind candidate how many digits in a barcode!” Shame on you, ”one person wrote, berating the program.

‘The’ How many digits on a barcode? “The question was so bad for a blind candidate,” someone else said, while another commented: “Asking someone who is blind how many digits are on a UK barcode in a question, how is the f ** k correct?

Another viewer said in disbelief: “Asking a blind competitor how many digits there are on a barcode is utter nonsense! How the hell would they know!

This isn’t the first time The Chase has come under fire for a question put to a blind candidate, with the show triggering backlash in August when a blind candidate was asked about the color of billiard balls.

After Rob’s elimination, the team’s fourth player was also caught by Paul, meaning only two competitors made it to the final pursuit.

In the end, they missed the opportunity to split £ 11,000.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5 p.m. on ITV.
