Viewers listening to The Chase were stunned when they recognized a “boastful” candidate as the star of a rival BBC show.
Fans flocked to Twitter to discuss their find as host Bradley Walsh casually chatted with Chef Mary Ann during the ITV quiz.
She spoke about her restaurant’s Michelin star and the Jaguar in her garage on Tuesday’s show.
One wrote on social media: “The whole program bothered me. But Mary Ann’s chef was on #GreatBritishMenu.”
Another commented: “Did Mary Ann on the Chase shut down her restaurant, that’s why she participated in the program trying to get money, it’s not so for a long time she was making Great British Menu ffs. “
A third asked, “Mary Ann off the hunt, sure she’s been on British Menu and MasterChef.”
“Surely Mary Anne should be in the celebrity version of #TheChase,” one said, after her previous TV experience was confirmed.
While others weren’t so impressed that the chef presented her list of accomplishments to the show’s host.
She told Bradley: “I held a Michelin star… and Prince Charles came to our house… and I went for a drink with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.”
Discussing what she would do with her potential earnings, Mary Ann added: “I would love to take my husband in our beautiful Jaguar car, and drive around Scotland where I have never been.”
A Twitter user replied: “Mary Ann on #TheChase bragging about having a Michelin star.
“So what, I have 4 Michelin tires on my car and you’re not bragging about me here.”
A second joked, “Mary Ann has a Jag but I think it’s an X-Type.”
While a third joked, “Mary Ann has been on celebrity chef TV shows, that’s why she gave her the Big One…”
But Mary Ann’s previous stint on TV seemed to serve her well as she joined all of the contestants in the final chase against Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan.
With luck in their favor, the quartet walked away with a respectable £ 18,000.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5 p.m. on ITV.
