Karen Gillan hasn’t traveled with the Doctor since 2013, but she recently weighed in on who could replace Jodie Whittaker in the upcoming Doctor Who series. The 13th Time Lord will retire from the TARDIS next year, and Gillan has named Adam Driver as his first choice to reprise the classic BBC series.
Former Doctor Who mate Karen Gillan believes Adam Driver could be the perfect replacement for Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor.
In July of this year, the BBC confirmed that Whittaker would step down from the role after three series and a trilogy of special episodes airing next year.
Series 13 will air later this year and will pair the Doctor with a new companion played by John Bishop.
Speaking to RadioTimes recently, Karen Gillan revealed who she’d like to receive the keys to the TARDIS from in Series 14.

The Oscar-nominated star is well known for another major sci-fi property, portraying villainous Kylo Ren in Disney’s rebooted Star Wars trilogy.
He has also appeared in a number of independent and major Hollywood studio films, Marriage Story, BlacKkKlansman and this year’s surreal musical Annette.
Could he be on the verge of adding the 14th Doctor to his ever-expanding resume?
Currently, the odds of bookmakers on Driver in the upcoming Doctor Who series are slim.
Recent favorites include I May Destroy You star and creator Michaela Coel, while Welsh actor Michael Sheen was voted the most popular choice by fans this year.
Additionally, her compatriot Jo Martin could also be a shoo-in for the role as she appeared as a mysterious alternate version of the Doctor in Whittaker’s latest outing.
Fans would no doubt love to see Adam Driver wield the Sonic Screwdriver, but his busy schedule and Hollywood pedigree could sadly exclude him from the race.
Doctor Who Series 13 will air in 2021 on BBC One.
