Elvira joins Hollywood stars in condemning the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. wade

It was reported Friday that the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade, and this news sparked widespread and instant backlash across all social media. It means the constitutional right to abortion no longer exists, a move that critics say violates women by asking the government to dictate what happens to their bodies. Among those who have spoken have been many celebrities, and that includes the Mistress of Darkness herself, Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson.

“I AM CRAZY!!! Today a gang of thieves called the Supreme Court of the United States deprived women of their basic constitutional rights,” Peterson tweeted along with an angry image of Elvira. “We ALL need to stand up and say NO! Women are NOT, and WILL NOT be, second-class citizens in our own country!

Elsewhere, among those reacting online, there are West Side Story Ariana DeBose, star and Oscar winner. In a tweet, DeBose criticized the ruling and said it’s not for the Supreme Court to determine what happens to her body, or who she falls in love with.

“Yeah, NO ONE tells me what I can and can’t do with my body,” DeBose said. “No one tells me who I should love or marry for that matter. America…you’re here for the fight of your life.”

Danny DeVito got a little blunt with his reaction, which read, “Supreme Court, my ass.”

You better call Saul Star Patrick Fabian tweeted: “Other than the insurrection, voter suppression and forced births…looks like the host of Celebrity Apprentice as president has worked very well for the United States”

“I am disgusted with my country and their consistent failure to protect the rights of others and keep their word,” Keke Palmer tweeted. “How do you reverse the wrong things? So many things to reverse that make sense. But that’s what you chose??”

Barack Obama weighed in

A former US president also expressed disappointment with the Supreme Court’s decision. Barack Obama, who has since developed content for Netflix with his wife Michelle Obama, released an impassioned statement online.

“Today the Supreme Court not only overturned nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most personal decision anyone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues – attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans,” he wrote. “Across the country, states have already passed bills restricting choice. If you’re looking for ways to respond, (Planned Parenthood), (United States of Women) and many other groups are sounding the alarm this issue for years…and will continue to be at the forefront of this fight.”

Obama added, “For more than a month we’ve known this day is coming, but that doesn’t make it any less devastating.”
