Hunky soap actor and fitness fan Anthony Quinlan appeared on ITV’s The Chase last night in a celebrity show in Emmerdale.
Anthony, 36, joined former co-stars Louisa Clein, James Moore and Dominic Brunt, as they took on The Chasers in a bid to raise money for their chosen charities.
As the first team member to take on The Chaser, Anthony seemed nervous and revealed that he had practiced his general knowledge on The Chase app.
Anthony is best known for his work as Pete Barton, a character featured in Emmerdale in late 2013, before leaving the 2020 series: but what else is he known for?
Going back to the start of his career, Anthony rose to fame playing the role of Gilly Roach in Hollyoaks. Although this is his first paid acting role, Anthony will play the role for six years; from 2005 to 2011.
Anthony is from Salford, an ideal fit for the role of Mancunian Gilly Roach.
After a long story that saw Jacqui McQueen accuse Gilly of rape, the character was ultimately struck off the show, following Anthony’s decision to resign in 2011.
He made a brief hiatus from television screens before returning to soap operas in 2013; this time as a member of the Barton family in Emmerdale.
While in the Emmerdale cast, Anthony was nominated for the ‘Sexiest Man’ award at the 2014 British Soap Awards.
Outside of acting, Antony enjoys sports and fitness very much, and is a qualified personal trainer and Crossfit trainer.
This will come as no surprise to avid Emmerdale fans, who will remember her impressive physique during her topless appearances on the series.
Anthony regularly posts health and fitness tips on his Instagram, most of which include workout videos. During the lockdown, Anthony posted fitness tips and tricks, as well as clips from his home workouts.
Presumably intended to inspire and motivate its followers to continue exercising throughout the lockdown, the posts drew many admirers, many of whom flooded the comments section with compliments and smashed-face emojis. love.
Anthony’s love for fitness was a passion he shared with his former girlfriend and Strictly Come Dancing talent, Dianne Buswell.
The couple dated in 2018 before ending things up after ten months.
Speaking to the Daily Star at the time, Anthony revealed, “We’re still really good friends – it’s just the distance that played a role.”
Unlike his ex, Anthony has never been on Strictly, but his stint in this recent episode of The Chase is not his first TV appearance as a contestant.
He also appeared in several famous British game shows such as All Star Family Fortunes and Gladiators, both as popular as The Chase in the early 2000s.
Thinking back to his time on Gladiators, Anthony poked fun at her head-to-toe Lycra appearance by posting a photo of her outfit online.
Although obviously nervous and chose to “skip” his fair share of questions, Anthony seemed to enjoy his time on The Chase.
Host Bradley Walsh quickly allowed Anthony to unwind in his final role as number one contender, leading to Emmerdale’s side winning £ 5,000 in the first round.
