A battle with cancer is quite grueling, from diagnosis to treatment and cure. It’s much more difficult when you have to go through those difficult times while being in public. There are quite a few stars who have unfortunately had to face this battle. It’s hard enough for cancer survivors to open up about their experience, but some stars have opened up about it. Here are 5 Hollywood stars who battled cancer and emerged triumphant. Check it out:
1) Sophie Vergara:
As a Glamor Report, this hugely successful TV star is one of the highest paid in the industry. The actress was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the age of 28. Vergara had his thyroid removed. Since then, she not only lives but also talks openly about living with hypothyroidism.
2) Stanley Tucci:
This actor opened up about his issues with a cancerous tumor on his tongue, according to the Best Life report. He said “it was too big to operate on” and said “it was awful”. He especially found it difficult because, “if you can’t eat and enjoy food, how are you going to enjoy everything else?”
According to the Best Life report, the actor once said, “[Cancer] scares you more and less scares at the same time. I feel much older than before I got sick. But you still want to go ahead and get things done.
3) Christine Applegate:
This gorgeous actress underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. According to a Glamor Report, the actress paid tribute to her mother who is a repeat breast cancer survivor who inspired her with the strength to get through the tough times. . Speaking of reconstructive surgery, the actress said, “And you know, I’m going to have nice boobs until I’m 90.”
4) Frank Drescher:
This actress was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000. According to a Glamor report, she once wrote in an essay, “It was strange – and rather poetic – that my reproductive organs, of all things, had a Cancer.” She is now the founder of a cancer advocacy group that is involved in prevention, early detection and policy change, called Cancer Schamcer.
5) Ben Stiller:
Ben Stiller was diagnosed with prostate cancer after a prostate-specific antigen was found in his body. It has been recommended to be screened at 46 years old whereas the age recommended by the American Cancer Society is 50 years old. I was about 46 years old,”
He explained in an essay he wrote in 2016: “I have no history of prostate cancer in my family and I am not in the high-risk group…I had no symptoms. He continued, “If he had waited until I was 50, as the American Cancer Society recommends, I wouldn’t have known I had a growing tumor until two years after I was treated.”
