‘Goodfellas’ star Ray Liotta dies suddenly at 67 and other Hollywood stars are ‘shattered’

Ray Liotta, best known for Freedmen, field of dreams and the video game Grand Theft Auto Vice Citydied suddenly at the age of 67.

The actor fell asleep and simply never woke up, his publicist told Variety. He was in the Dominican Republic to shoot the film Dangerous waters at the time.

Liotta played Shoeless Joe Jackson in field of dreams and Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese Freedmen – one of the most iconic gangster films of the past 50 years.

Lorraine Bracco, who played Liotta’s wife in Freedmen and also starred in The Sopranosposted a message about the actor on Thursday.

“Completely devastated to hear this terrible news regarding my Ray,” she wrote on Twitter. “I can be anywhere in the world and people come and tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas.”

She added that when asked about the best part of this film, she always gives the same answer: “Ray Liotta”.

“I just met the guy for the first time last year,” actor Jeffrey Wright tweeted. “EXCELLENT actor. Glad I got the chance to tell him that. RIP.”

Director James Mangold describe Liotta as a “sweet, playful, passionate collaborator and brilliant actor”, while Jamie Lee Curtis rented his work and called him a “nice man”.

“RIP Ray Liotta!” wrote Viola Davis. “I loved your work.”

“A true legend of immense talent and grace”, said Seth Rogen. “He was a lovely, talented and hilarious person.”

Liotta recently completed the film cocaine beardirected by Elizabeth Banks.
