Hollywood actors linked to Arkansas are filming a new movie in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) — Some Hollywood actors with Arkansas ties are bringing the action to Region 8.

A Region 8 News got an exclusive look at the film set here in Jonesboro.

Filming only started this month, and this movie is really part of a bigger push to bring moviemaking to Arkansas.

You might recognize his name from hits like Scream and Never Been Kissed, but actor David Arquette is now working on a new movie, 12 Hour Shift.

“It’s a night that gets crazy and out of control,” Arquette said.

In the film, a group of 90s nurses go into the black market organ trade.

In reality, the actors walk through the first and third floors of the Arkansas Continuing Care Hospital.

“The hospital has been really amazing for us,” Arquette said. “They really had open arms, were very accommodating and wonderful to work with.”

Arquette’s wife, Christina McLarty, who produces the film, is from Arkansas, and Tara Perry, an actress, is from here in Jonesboro.

These connections and discussions with Governor Asa Hutchinson made it the perfect location for filming.

“We are thrilled to see the continued growth of the film industry in Arkansas, as well as the top-notch production houses that have taken notice and the caliber of projects being created here,” Governor Hutchinson said.

“He understands the importance of the film industry and what it can bring to a community,” Arquette said.

Arquette said 12 Hour Shift is just the start of a larger effort to get more movies running across the state, opening the door to all the benefits that follow.

“There’s something called the halo effect,” Arquette said. “So when movies come to a community, restaurants start making more money, rideshare services, catering, different job opportunities, so we’ve always loved Arkansas and we really wanted to bring the movies here.”

Region 8 News has been told that filming should wrap by the end of the month, and after post-production, they hope to get the film into film festivals by August.
