Hollywood star Sean Penn and actress Leila George, who married in July 2020, have finalized their divorce after almost two years of their marriage.
According to people.com, the Oscar-winning actress, 61, and Australian actress, 30, first fell in love in 2016.
George then filed for divorce in October 2021 after just over a year of marriage.
In January 2022, the couple, who have been spotted together since filing, including on New Year’s Eve, retained the services of their own private judge to expedite divorce proceedings in California’s backlogged courts.
Their divorce was finalized and approved on Friday, according to documents obtained by People.
The documents state that Penn and George officially separated in September 2021 and cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for their breakup. Neither is asking for child support from the other.
Earlier this month, Penn sat down with Hollywood Authentic magazine to support his work in Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion, and he also opened up about his relationship, including how he [expletive] marriage” by being “very negligent”.

The ‘Gaslit’ star added of George, “And it turns out this is going to shock you, beautiful, incredibly kind, imaginative and talented young women who have married a man who’s been old enough for them for years, they don’t don’t love it when they wake up from their peaceful nights sleep and their new husband is on the couch, been up for 4 years, watching all the crap going on in the world and decided that 10:30 in the morning was a good time cou a [beverage] and an Ambien and say, ‘Hello, honey. I’ll pass out for a few hours and get away from it all [expletive]’.”
“Turns out women as portrayed don’t like it,” he said.
