Hollywood actors take control of Wrexham football club in TV series

The story of the Wrexham Football Club acquisition by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney is being turned into a Disney-owned cable documentary series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, cable channel FX has ordered two seasons of Welcome to Wrexham.

From Hollywood to Wales, from the pitch to the locker room, from the front office to the pub, Welcome to Wrexham Will take Rob and Ryan’s crash course on football club ownership and the inextricably linked destinies of a team and a city relying on two actors to bring much-needed hope and change.

Nick Grad, President of Original Programming at FX Entertainment. Rob McElhenney has been a star of the FX Team for years and has now teamed up with the formidable Ryan Reynolds to bring glory to the ‘Red Dragons’ in the Welcome to Wrexham docuseries.

“Rob and Ryan will take fans to the sport like never before, combining their true love for the game with the welcome challenge of building on this club’s legacy.”

Reynolds and McElhenney finalized in February the acquisition of 100% ownership of the National League club, which plays at the racetrack, from the Wrexham Supporters Trust.

The actors have invested £ 2million in the club under the terms of the deal.

Broadwalk Pictures produces Welcome to Wrexham. McElhenney, Reynolds, Nick Frenkel and John Henion are the executive producers.
