Hollywood Actors Who Love Casinos – Movie News | Film-News.co.uk

If you worked all day as an actor and made a fortune, what else do you do with it? You lay everything on the table, ready to do even more!

The word “celebrity” conjures up images of red carpets, busy lives and opulent surroundings. It’s no surprise that poker is a popular pastime for many celebrities. The average person doesn’t get as many glitzy moments.

In the past, going to a casino was the only way for the average person to experience the excitement of a poker or blackjack table. The fun isn’t just for celebrities though; we can all play casino, bingo, online slingos, and online poker too!

There is no shortage of celebrities in casinos, and some are there more frequently than others.

Michael Jordan

It’s not just Hollywood stars who enjoy playing poker, but they don’t all do it with the same intensity as Micheal Jordan.

Michael plays aggressively; he doesn’t care how much money he wins or loses; he is only interested in the game. He bets bin, wins big, loses big and leaves again.

It’s no surprise that he prefers to play high roller tables with starting bets of half a million dollars. After all, he’s a sports mogul with plenty of cash to gamble with.

Micheal turned the games around, going from sizable losses to almost million-dollar wins as a player. Most famously, he entered the game with $500,000 in debt and ended up with $800,000. This equates to a reversal of $1.3 million – phew!

He is well documented sharing that he will bet on anything, he loves to gamble.

Ben Affleck

Ben is often spotted and often wins in casinos – in fact Ben is rumored to have been banned from some casinos because he kept winning! He says the reason he wins so often is because he has an amazing memory.

Ben is just one of the identified stars in Molly Bloom’s poker ring was Ben Affleck, as was Matt Damon.

There are several stories about Ben’s poker prowess and how fun it was to play with him.

At the 2011 California State Poker Championships, he won $356,400, making it one of his most notable wins.

As a poker enthusiast, Ben has also given back to the community – using poker. To generate money for food banks, he hosted a celebrity poker event. There was a buy-in limit of $10,000 for this.

Kevin Smith, Sarah Silverman, Jon Hamm, Adam Levin are just some of the eminent personalities who participated.

Jennifer Tilly

Jennifer has appeared in several films by Chucky, Liar Liar, Family Guy, Stuart Little and others.

Jennifer likes to go to the poker tables and is an excellent player.

Tilly won a bracelet at the 2005 World Series of Poker Ladies No-Limit Texas Hold’Em. Jennifer also won the third WPT Ladies Invitational at the Bicycle Casino in California a few months later.

Friends with some of the best poker players in the world, including Phil Laak, who played for 115 straight hours.

Jennifer has amassed around $1 million in poker winnings and shows no signs of slowing down.

Matt Damon

It’s no surprise that Matt is acting in real life after seeing his performance in Rounders. Rounders is, of course, a cult classic poker movie – loved by millions.

The World Series of Poker has seen Matt a few times, and he still manages to adapt to his busy acting career.

Matt prefers to keep his poker winnings private unlike other superstars who enjoy playing in front of millions of poker fans.

It is also reported that Matt Damon was one of the celebrities who participated in the Molly Bloom games for money.

Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio, Macaulay Culkin and Tobey Maguire are among the celebrities reported to have played these elite games.

Tobey Maguire

It would be remiss not to mention that Tobey Maguire is Play X in the movie Molly’s Game (and that means he was also ruthless as a gamer).

He was mentioned at Molly Bloom’s underground poker tournaments and attended Ben Affleck’s charity poker match. Tobey Maguire, of course, loves to play poker.

Tobey has an intriguing connection to poker, although some sections of the stories seem next to impossible. Tobey plays poker with a quick wit and always tries to take advantage of his situation – and it shows in the movie Molly’s Game too.

Stories like Affleck sending a check for $50,000 to cover Damon’s loss or DiCaprio being staked for $5,000 so he doesn’t have to lose his money to Tobey are circulating the internet.

Shannon Elizabeth

Shannon Elizabeth rose to fame and touched the hearts of millions of teenagers when she starred in American Pie. She portrayed Nadia, a beautiful high school sweetheart.

Shannon is well known to poker players for her prowess at the tables.

Shannon, originally from Texas, had already played poker when she was a teenager. Texas Hold’Em wasn’t his favorite game – which is odd considering it’s his home country. Shannon only prepared for the match after training alongside world-class player Antonio Esfandiari.

She finished barely out of the money in the 2005 WSOP Main Event. She went on to star in several poker-themed films.

While many celebrities hide their competitive streaks and love of casinos, these guys play high stakes games, global tournaments and don’t hide it.

We have yet to find out how many celebrities are playing poker, slots and Slingo online! Maybe there are a few more faces that we wouldn’t have expected!

Next time you watch Molly’s Game – see if you can spot who’s who at the table – which one is, Matt? Who is Ben? And most importantly, who is Player X (Tobey Maguire) making a deal with?
