Hollywood celebrities pay homage to Irrfan Khan

Actor Irrfan Khan died on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. News of his disappearance shocked not only the Indian film fraternity, but Hollywood filmmakers like Colin Trevorrow and Ava Duvernay as well.

Trevorrow, who directed Khan on his international Jurassic World release, shared a happy photo of the Angrezi Medium film actor. Along with this he wrote: “Deeply sad to have lost #IrrfanKhan. A thoughtful man who found beauty in the world around him, even in pain. In our last correspondence he asked me to remembering “the wonderful aspects of our existence” in the darkest days. Here he is laughing.

Irrfan Khan has made appearances in a few Hollywood movies, including Jurassic World, Inferno, Life of Pi, and Slumdog Millionaire, among others.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Ava Duvernay claimed to be an Irrfan fan and felt he was “gone too soon”. Sharing a monochrome photo of the actor, she wrote on Twitter: “A grateful #IrrfanKhan fan here. Gone too early. When he’s on screen you can’t take your eyes off him. He lives in his movies. .

Calling Irrfan, “one of the greatest actors,” Riz Ahmed tweeted, “Rest in peace one of the greatest actors of our time, Irrfan Khan. I have never met him but he was an inspiration and a hero to me and to millions of others. His work has always been transcendent, he has been a guide for many of us.

“Devastated, this brave @irrfan khan has unfortunately lost his battle. We had planned to work together and he spent a day at my house discussing our script before he fell ill. Today I mourn one of India’s greatest talents and the world’s greatest actor. RIP Baijaan and thank you for your amazing work and your legacy. 🙏😇💕😢 #irrfankhan, ”wrote filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, sharing a throwback photo with Irrfan.

Jurassic World co-star Chris Pratt tweeted: “So sad to hear of the death of screen legend @irrfank. Irrfan Khan played Masrani in Jurassic World. He was an exquisite and human actor. We will miss him.” The film‘s Twitter account also shared a touching post honoring Irrfan and his work.

Kal Penn, who shared screen space with Irrfan in Mira Nair’s The Namesake, also took to social media to pay tribute to the late actor.

Angelina Jolie, who collaborated with Irrfan on A Mighty Heart, spoke to BBC UK about the actor. She said: “He stood out for his generosity as an artist, which made it a pleasure to work in any scene with him. I remember the intensity of his commitment, and also his smile. I send my condolences and sympathy to his family, friends and all the admirers of his work, in India and around the world.

Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle told the BBC: “Irrfan was a wonderful actor and a central figure in the creation of Slumdog Millionaire. It wasn’t a huge role, and in fact, on paper, it was even less rewarding. But Irrfan saw the opportunity to guide our audience – with their dignity, grace, charm, intelligence and composure – through this crossword puzzle of a movie idea.

The Academy also recalled Irrfan’s contribution to world cinema in a detailed tweet which read: “A pillar of Bollywood cinema and incredible talent in films like Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi and The Namesake, Irrfan Khan has left his mark on world cinema, an inspiration to millions of people, he will be sorely missed.

Mindy Kaling shared a series of photos of the actor on her Instagram account and captioned it: “I am devastated by the news that legend Irrfan Khan has passed away at the age of 53. favorite actor. Irrfan’s performances were defined by his subtlety and sensitivity, he could do more with the silence than many actors could do with a two-page Sorkin monologue. You watched him on screen and you you are like “I know this person!” in any role he played, even though he was chased across Europe in a Da Vinci Code movie with @tomhanks. He wrote to me once to see if we could collaborate on something, and that remains the greatest honor of my career. Natalie Portman, who shared screen space with Irrfan in New York City, I Love You shared a photo of herself with the actor on her Instagram Story and wrote: “Sending love to loved ones at Irrfan Khan today. “

Irrfan Khan was admitted to intensive care on Tuesday with a colon infection. However, the actor’s health deteriorated and he took his last breath on April 29.
