The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn its landmark Roe v. Wade on abortion rights in her 50th year has been met with widespread criticism from American celebrities.
Expressing the majority opinion in the entertainment industry, pop star Taylor Swift tweeted:
I am absolutely terrified that we are here – that after so many decades of fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of them. https://t.co/mwK561oxxl

In a detailed response, cookery show host and author Padma Lakshmi said:
People will always have abortions.
These proceedings will not stop simply because Roe v. Wade is knocked down.
It will only prevent safe and legal abortions from taking place.

thundered award-winning actress Ariana DeBose,
Yeah, nobody tells me what I can and can’t do with my body. No one tells me who I should love or marry for that matter. America… you are in for the fight of your life.

Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette was also unequivocal. She says,
This Supreme Court is an absolute disaster. Whether it’s giving people the right to bear arms or taking away women’s right to autonomy over their own bodies. We weren’t reactive, we saw it coming.

But the last word certainly belonged to bestselling author Stephen King. He tweeted,
It is the finest Supreme Court the 19th century has ever produced.
