Daly was still writing about his experiences for the book when he discussed his preference of actors for the role. Interestingly, he didn’t want one, but two main actors to play themselves in the film, from different periods of his life.

The two-time major championship winner was on a strict diet that saw him lose 52 kilograms following weight loss surgery. Daly revealed the thought process of acquiring two actors for the role, stating that one would reprise his role before his weight loss and one after.

In his selections, Daly chose “King of Queens” actor Kevin James as the main character for the first part. James played Doug Heffernan on the popular series, receiving a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the performance in 2006.

Daly’s second lead actor is a Hollywood superstar

For the next part of the biopic, Daly cast popular actor Matt Damon as the lead actor. “I saw Damon in The Legend of Bagger Vance…. it would be perfect,” he said.

While Daly’s book, titled “My Life in and out of the Rough,” was released a long time ago, there hasn’t been any concrete news about a potential biopic. While the story remains unmatched, Daly’s controversial and elaborate life would be a daunting task to show moviegoers.
