Kaley Cuoco explains why she couldn’t do love scenes in HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant, which is her first project after The Big Bang Theory.

After The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco couldn’t do sex scenes in The stewardess and she explains why. The actress played Penny for 12 years on the hit CBS sitcom until it ended in 2019. From there, she moved on to black comedy HBO Max, where she not only played the role principal, Cassie, but she is also its executive producer. .

Cuoco’s Penny was the only female main character on The Big Bang Theory for a while until Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik’s Bernie and Amy were brought in as series regulars at the start of Season 4. With that, the actress had only focused on the sitcom and not not much else in terms of work over the past 12 years. Coming out of there, she naturally had many doubts. Cuoco previously admitted that she was afraid that no one would take her seriously after her long stint on The Big Bang Theory. But apart from that, she also had difficulties doing the acting work herself, especially when it came to intimate scenes.

Speaking during Hollywood journalistRoundtable of comedy actresses, Cuoco approached frankly this question which was first revealed by her. The stewardess co-star, Michel Huisman. She admitted that she struggled to film bed scenes because she was “totally out of my element.” She just didn’t know how to do it because The Big Bang Theory never really asked for this kind of more realistic intimate footage.

“I had no idea. When they called ‘cut’ I was hovering over him like I was on the toilet. I was like, ‘I’m not touching anything, I’m not looking at anything.

“I did not know what to do. [Huisman] was like, ‘You act so weird, you do that way weirder than it should be.’ “

The Big Bang Theory of Flight Attendants

What’s interesting about this revelation is that Penny was often portrayed as a sexual being in The Big Bang Theory – especially during his first seasons. She was insulted, primarily by Sheldon, and was the subject of misogynistic comments. Penny was also very sexualized, as in the way the show dressed her during those early years. But, while Penny enjoyed dating men, she didn’t jump in bed like the sitcom featured her. After realizing that she is in love with Leonard, she remains loyal to him. Overtime, The Big Bang Theory began to develop the character of Penny in various other ways, making her a more complete person. But, on occasion, Sheldon still made offensive remarks about her and her previous relationship choices.

Cuoco maintains that she would have been happy to play Penny for more years if she had The Big Bang Theory continued to run. The sitcom was surprisingly canceled after Jim Parsons decided he wanted to do other things besides the sitcom. Instead of continuing with an incomplete cast, they all decided to come full circle. Although it was a frightening time for Cuoco, the transition to The stewardess perhaps one of the best things she could have done for her career, as she received so much praise in the wake of the show’s first season.
