With her iconic career defined by a successful discography, unforgettable performances and stunning fashion, Lady Gaga has helped shape pop culture for over a decade. It is an impossible exercise to think about what the industry would be like without its influence. However, it turns out that the pop star and actor have a pretty good idea of what they would do if they weren’t running the entertainment industry.
She spoke about another career path she once considered in an interview with British Vogue. It turns out that Mother Monster dreamed of becoming a journalist at one point. And not just any journalist either.
“I don’t know if people know that about me, but if I wasn’t who I am today, I would have been a combat journalist. It was one of my dreams,” a- she confessed.
The hit-maker added that she put some of her journalistic skills to work when she sang during President Joe Biden’s inauguration earlier this year.
“When I was at the Capitol the day before the opening, I remember walking around looking for evidence of the insurgency,” Gaga said.
It’s also not the only time she’s harnessed her traditional reporting skills at work. She told the publication that she took a journalistic approach to creating the role she is playing in her next film, Gucci House.
While the character portrayed by Gaga – Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci who served time in prison after hiring a hitman to kill her husband – is still alive today, the actor has chose not to meet her.
“I only felt I could really do this story justice if I approached it with the eye of a curious woman who wished to have a journalistic mind so that I could read between the lines what was happening in the scenes of the film. “she said. Explain.
“Which meant no one was going to tell me who Patrizia Gucci was,” Gaga added. “Not even Patrizia Gucci.”
For what it’s worth, Reggiani would be not glad Gaga didn’t meet her before filming the project.
We’ll have to wait and see how the portrait of the pop star unfolds when Gucci House premieres November 24. In the meantime, you can watch her in action in the film’s latest trailer below.
