A Lancashire lollipop lady left Blankety host Blank Bradley Walsh and other viewers stunned when she revealed her age.

Charmer Bradley told Irene Reid MBE she looked “awesome” as she walked across the stage to take part in the supermatch.

She quickly joked, “Not bad for 81.”

A stunned Bradley then said “You are not” before the audience cheers.

The actor and comedian then turned to celebrities Judy Murray, Rob Beckett, Shappi Khorandi, Peter Andre, Ellie Taylor and Rickie Haywood-Williams, asking them, “Why does everyone always clap when someone says his age?

“She says I’m 81 and they suddenly clap like ‘she’s lucky she did, isn’t she?’ Congratulations on making it this far. “

Irene then said, “And still alive. That’s good, isn’t it?”

Bradley agreed, saying, “Well that helps the show.”

Producers approached Irene to come and compete on the show after finding out she had been a lollipop woman for over half a century at the same school crossroads in Longridge.

However, at first, Irene wasn’t sure she wanted to participate in the show until she found out Bradley would host it.

She managed to qualify for the penultimate head-to-head round of the show, but sadly missed the final.

But she didn’t go home empty-handed, as each contestant wins the iconic Blankety Blank checkbook and pen.

Fans of the show took to social media to express how surprised they were at the reveal of Irene’s age.

One of them tweeted: “Irene, if I can be half as good as you in 34 years, I’ll be happy. #BlanketyBlank.”

As a second put it: “Irene looks amazing for 81”,

Another added: “Awww, I love Irene, #BlanketyBlank. 81 and still angry. Awesome!”

A fourth wrote: “” 81 ?! Fucking hell! #BlanketyBlank. “
