Arguably one of the most surprising streaming decisions of the past year circled Good omens, with the Amazon Prime miniseries being renewed for a second season. While there are a lot of mysteries about the new batch of episodes – especially as they will extend beyond the source material of the original Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett novel – fans are truly excited to see Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant) again on screen. If any further social media posts from Sheen are any indication, it could be a step closer to reality, as the actor recently took to Twitter to share process photos of his light gray dyed hair. While that hasn’t already prompted fans to speculate on his return as Aziraphale, the fact that he captioned both photos with a halo emoji – referring to the character’s status as an angel – certainly seems to allude to it.

Season 1 of Good omens followed Aziraphale and Crowley, an angel and demon who embarked on a mission to locate the misguided 11-year-old Antichrist, days before the start of the apocalypse. The series also features appearances by Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Jack Whitehall, Frances McDormand, Benedict Cumberbatch and Nick Offerman. The second season finds Crowley and Aziraphale living among humans in London’s Soho, only for an unexpected messenger to present a surprising mystery. “

“The return of Good omens This is great news for me, personally, ”Tennant said in the press release. “As I work with Michael again, and repeat Neil’s wonderful words. It’s probably less good for the universe because it almost certainly means there will be a new existential threat to deal with for its existence, but, you know, swings and roundabouts. “

Gaiman served as showrunner for the first season of Good omens, fulfilling his and Pratchett’s dream of bringing their apocalyptic comedy to television. Gaiman returns as executive producer and co-showrunner for season two, sharing the duties of showrunner with Douglas Mackinnon, who directed the first season.

“Socket Good omens in my home country Scotland to film a second season is an exciting dream come true for me. And with the return of Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley, we really have an angel and a demon on our side, ”Mackinnon said.

“It has been thirty-one years since Good omens has been released, which means thirty-two years have passed since Terry Pratchett and I were lying in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and have mapped out the sequel, ” Gaiman added. “I was able to use pieces from the suite in Good omens – that’s where our angels come from. Terry is no longer there, but when he was there, we talked about what we wanted to do with it Good omens, and where the story unfolded next. “
