As South Korean films gain attention and talented new actors and actresses emerge in the film world, these celebrities have risen to prominence not just in South Korea, but around the world. Crossing the great language barriers, these celebrities have given incredible performances with their presence in Hollywood films.
South Korean actor, singer, songwriter and music producer Jung Ji Hoon, known by his stage name Rain, made his Hollywood debut in 2008. He starred in the films “Speed Racer” and Ninja Murderer. Ninja Assassin won him an MTV award, making him the first Korean to win an MTV award.
Rain also played the character of Mark in the 2014 American thriller “The Prince.”

Korean-American actor and model Daniel Henney played the role of Agent Zero in the American superhero film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. He was also in the American medical drama “Three Rivers”. Daniel also played Tadashi Hamada in “Big Hero 6”. Daniel Henney has also worked in many American television series and films such as “The Last Stand”, “Shanghai Calling”, “NCIS: Los Angeles”.
Henney played the role of special agent in the American television series ‘Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders’. He joined ‘Criminal Minds’ as a series regular for season 13.

South Korean actor and singer Lee Joon Gi made his Hollywood debut in the latest installment of the Resident Evil series “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”. He played the character of Commander Chu and was well-liked by his co-actors for his acting and martial arts.

South Korean actor, singer and model Lee Byun Hun made his Hollywood debut in ‘Gl Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ and gained recognition for his role as Storm Shadow as well as its sequel ‘GI Joe: Retaliation’ . He was also in ‘RED 2’, ‘Terminator Genisys’, ‘Misconduct’ and ‘The Magnificent Seven’. Lee presented an Oscar at the annual Oscars in Los Angeles, becoming the first South Korean actor to do so. Lee Byun Hun and Ahn Sung-Gi became the first Korean actors to imprint their hand and footprints on the forecourt of Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles in 2012.

Korean-American actor Ki Hong Lee made his debut in a two-part film adaptation of Yellowface. He is famous for his character ‘Minho’ in ‘Maze Runner film series‘, American dystopian sci-fi action thriller which was also his first feature film.
Ki Hong Lee also appeared in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He has also acted in many other American films and television series as well as a number of short films.
Not only these but there are a number of other hard working South Korean celebrities who have had a chance to work in Hollywood films and there are many more who are on the verge of doing their debut soon.

South Korean actor Kang Dong-Won will soon make his Hollywood film debut with American disaster action film Tsunami LA. Kang Dong-Won has worked in many South Korean movies and a few TV series like “Voice of a Murderer”, “1% of Anything”, “Master”, “Haunters”.

South Korean singer, songwriter and rapper Lee Chae Rin, known by her stage name CL, will soon make her Hollywood debut as an actress playing the character of Queen in an upcoming US action thriller “Mile 22.”
