Twitter is deployment the ability for all iOS users around the world to Super Follow Certain Creators. The option was previously only available to users in the United States and Canada. Super Follows allow users to subscribe to the accounts they like for a monthly subscription in exchange for exclusive content.
The feature launched in September after being first announced in February. Super Follows is another tool for creators to make money through the social media platform. Qualifying accounts can set the price for Super Follow memberships, with the option to charge $ 2.99, $ 4.99, or $ 9.99 per month. Creators can choose to tag certain tweets for subscribers only while continuing to reach their unpaid subscriber base in regular tweets.
The process for activating Super Follows for Creators is currently app-based. Creators must be in the United States and have 10,000 followers and at least 25 tweets in the past month to be eligible.
Last month, a report from Sensor Tower found that Super Follows only generated around $ 6,000 in the US and around $ 600 in Canada in its first two weeks since launch. Twitter’s stance on the slower start of Super Follows is that it’s still too early to make any decisions.
It’s worth noting that Super Follows isn’t Twitter’s only monetization feature.
Earlier this year, Twitter introduced Tip Jar, a way for accounts to receive one-time payments from their followers. The test is currently limited to a subset of eligible accounts, including creators, journalists, experts, and nonprofits. Twitter also launched Ticketed Spaces for its live audio rooms feature allowing creators to charge anywhere from a dollar to $ 999 for advanced ticketing.
