Larkins viewers have delivered their verdict on the first episode of the 1990s hit ITV reboot.
However, while many loved it and called it a “perfick”, many accused the show of jumping on the “awake” train.
What did the Larkins give us last night on ITV?
Instead of Sir David Jason, Pam Ferris, and Catherin Zeta-Jones, we have Bradley Walsh, Joanna Scanlan, and Sabrina Bartlett.
Set in a Kent village in the 1950s, it also introduced multicultural characters into the mix, which were not in the original books.

This included the fabulous Tok Stephen as Charley – the shy tax inspector who is bamboozled by Mariette’s beauty.
And while this new take on the classic series has done a great job of giving us sweet and heartwarming Sunday night TV, it hasn’t been well received by some.

How did viewers react to the Larkins?
Add in the Brigadier, a retired Indian Army officer, and The Larkins offers us new characters that are brilliantly multicultural and reflect 21st century society.
However, some viewers did not see him that way and accused him of bending to the “awake” agenda.
An angry viewer wrote on Twitter: “#TheLarkins Woke on steroids.”
Another said: “#TheLarkins Daling Buds Of Woke May.”
A third said: “Well, I got it five minutes before Woke’s story alteration made me turn off.
“I’ll stick with the original #TheLarkins.”
Finally, one fan said, “I have a feeling this is going to turn into a wake-up call at some point. I hope not.”
