So many celebrities are surprisingly tuned in (and hooked) on “Love Island”; Harry Styles recently said rolling stone that he was probably going to binge after his tour, Milly Bobby Brown is a fan, and even Lily James is known for getting into the weird “Love Island” viewing party.
There is a real sense of community in live or terrestrial television; a sense of unity when commercial breaks all viewers head to Twitter for a debrief and the collective excitement for 9 a.m. on a generally uneventful Wednesday.
Whether or not at the end of each “Love Island” series you’re wondering “why am I watching this,” it helps to know that there are other people who feel the same way.
But what you might not realize is that celebrities are also part of our “Love Island” fandom – and not just those who were in previous runs of the show. No. We’re talking about mega stars like Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne. Plus, get this: These two have been dying to chat with Adam Collard. Gas.
Fortunately for the Hollywood gerlos, they are friends with Laura Whitmore, the now ex-host of the reality TV show. So getting in touch with Mr. Collard was as simple as giving him a bell.
In a video that Collard uploaded to YouTube, he shared that after the ‘Love Island’ reunion, he was caught by Whitmore who asked him if he wanted to buzz Robbie and Delevingne, “‘ Laura was like ‘My friends want to meet you and Paige, are you going to FaceTime them?’ so I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah’ and I FaceTimed them”.
He explained that the call took place while Paige was in the bathroom, saying “They looked like they were in Mexico or Bali or somewhere, the connection was really bad and they were cut off.” But miraculously it took the islander some time to find out who they were “Just before they cut, Laura was just ready to end the call and the penny dropped”.
We don’t know how it took him so long to realize he was on the phone with the Enchantress and Barbie, but watch. We wonder what they were talking about. Hashtag celebrity life.
